Development Team

The Tahoe Endurance Devo Team is for young athletes ages 10–13 (4th–8th grade) who are excited about skiing, being outdoors, and spending countless hours exploring the mountains with teammates.

The Devo Team focuses on creating well-rounded athletes through a wide variety of movement and fun-focused outdoor adventure. Practices are built around games, exploration, teamwork, and improving base athletic and ski ability.

Training includes rollerskiing and skiing, running, hiking, mountain biking, ski technique work, mountain adventures, and plenty of time spent outside with teammates who share the same excitement for skiing and being active. Athletes are also introduced to the variety of pathways within Nordic skiing, from local racing opportunities all the way to national-level development, while still keeping the primary focus on enjoyment, long-term growth, and creating lifelong skiers.

All athletes are encouraged to participate in local youth races and represent their middle school Nordic programs during the winter season.

Program Options

  • 2 days/week team training

  • 4 days/week team training

Eligibility

The Devo Team is intended for athletes who already have some experience with Nordic skiing and are excited to continue progressing in the sport. In general, athletes should:

  • Have completed at least 3 seasons of organized Nordic skiing

  • Have experience on both skate and classic skis

  • Be comfortable spending extended time outdoors and active in the mountains

  • Have a strong passion for skiing, adventure, and having fun with teammates

Most importantly, athletes should bring enthusiasm, curiosity, and excitement to learn, improve, and enjoy the process alongside their team.

If an athlete does not fully meet the above guidelines but is highly motivated and interested in the program, families are encouraged to reach out to the coaching staff to discuss the athlete’s background and whether the program would be a good fit, or to attend shadow days.
